EU engaged in secretive sympathetic dialogue with Hamas
by Mr X

As reported by WorldNetDaily:

FROM WND'S JERUSALEM BUREAU
EU shocker: Hamas are 'freedom fighters'

A top European Union official held a secret meeting in Gaza with the leaders of Hamas, in spite of EU denials to the contrary, in which he praised the terror organization's work, blamed terrorism on "Israeli occupation," referred to Hamas militants as "freedom fighters" and failed to contradict claims Israel was responsible for the September 11 attacks, according to transcripts of the conversation obtained by WorldNetDaily.

There were some leaked reports of the 2002 meeting, but the transcripts for the first time expose what was discussed with Hamas and may shed light on various aspects of EU Mideast diplomacy.

The transcripts, seized from the Palestinian Authority Preventive Security compound in Gaza during Israel's 2002 Defensive Shield operation and released through Israel's Center for Special Studies, document a discreet meeting between Hamas leader Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, who was assassinated by Israel in March 2004, and Alistair Crooke, the security adviser for Miguel Moratinos, then EU special envoy for promoting the peace process in the Middle East.

The meeting conflicts with a November 2004 statement issued by a spokeswoman on behalf of EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana denying Solona or his staff ever met or held "direct contacts" with Hamas or other groups featured on the EU list of banned terrorist organizations.

Also present for the secret EU discussions were Hamas senior members Mahmoud al-Zahar, head of the group's Gaza faction, and Dr. Abd al-Aziz al-Rantisi, a senior Hamas official recently assassinated by Israel.

The documents, authenticated by security experts, are written in Arabic by Palestinian officials on PA stationary.

According to the confidential transcripts, Crooke explained to Hamas leaders he requested the meeting, in part, because he was worried a speech to be delivered by U.S. President George W. Bush regarding American policy toward the Middle East might reflect negatively on the EU.

"We are currently in an extremely grave situation," said Crooke, according to the documents. "Europe doesn't know what President Bush is going to say in his speech to the Middle East. So far there are about 27 drafts of that speech, and there are disagreements in the American administration over that issue."

Crooke urged Hamas to keep the meeting private so that, the envoy explained, Israel and the U.S. could not take advantage of the conversation, according to the transcripts.
Common sense dictates that this is neither surprising, nor likely to be discontinued in the light of exposure. The Europeans, especially Spain, France and Germany have always maintained discrete links with Middle Eastern terror groups, in the vain hope that they might be negotiated with.

As Europe will discover, there is no negotiating with an enemy who is set upon your complete annihilation.

What does CIB have to do with the CIA?
by Mr X

In a word, nothing.

Mr X is not a current employee of the Central Intelligence Agency.

CIB is in no way affiliated with, connected to, or directed by the Central Intelligence Agency.

CIB is intended as a parody of a US government institution whose overt liberal political bias has turned it into a parody of itself.

The paramount intention of CIB is to monitor and report on instances of political bias inside the CIA institutionally, as well as evidence of a political agenda being advanced by Agency employees. CIB will also monitor and report on instances of Agency [mal]function.

CIB will also monitor and report on instances of hostile action (defined as actions detrimental to the national interest of the United States and its allies) by the EU and the UN. It is the belief of CIB that both transnational entities pose a very serious national security risk to the United States and its allies, and as such, CIB will do its part to bring about their utter ruination.

The United States and its allies are currently engaged in a world-wide war on terrorism - more particularly Islamic terrorism - and CIB will monitor and report on these acts in accordance with this.

Additionally, CIB will monitor and report on unAmerican/anti-American (defined as actions or expressioned opinions detrimental to the national security interests of the United States and its allies) sentiments expressed in the mainstream media and on blogs. It is the opinion of CIB that fifth columnists - both direct and indirect actors - are rife throughout the media, their underhanded, biased and morally repgnant methods and agenda will be exposed whenever possible.

Political bias in academia will be monitored and reported on where possible. The universities have long been thoroughly dominated by the political left, but more recently they have become saturated by Islamists, Islamist-sympathizers, anti-Semites and socialists.

CIB will produce a Daily Intelligence Brief, covering the most significant events of the preceding 24 hours, and will analyze events of significant interest.

CIB will occasionally make intelligence predictions based upon collected information, and an ongoing tally will be kept which compares CIB analysis performance with that of the CIA.

CIB will always endeavour to remain objective.
